The VHS Halloween Party Mixtapes...
Up next on the list of great Halloween mixes we have Evil Nine. The musical duo, consisting of om Beaufoy and Patrick Pardy, have been on my radar since their 2004 album You Can be Special Too, along with their Essential Mix from the following year. For a few years there, Evil Nine put out some really excellent Halloween mixes: The Evil Nine VHS Halloween Party Mixtapes.
As far as I can tell, Volume 1 in this series has vanished form the Internet. I'm sure I have a copy of it on an old hard drive, but the only thing I can find online is this setlist. Take heart, though! Because Evil Nine currently hosts volumes 2-5 on their Soundcloud account.
I'm embedding them below as well. I fondly remember volumes 1-4 -- with 4 being the one I probably spent the most time with. As the titles imply, these mixes are packed full of VHS-era horror movie soundtrack goodness, featuring everyone from John Carpenter and Tangerine Dream to Giorgio Moroder, Goblin and more.
