A somber, Halloween soundscape from Karin Dreijer...
Fever Ray (Karin Dreijer) is one of my favorite artists and while I would never describe their musical output as purely creepy, the artist does paint with midnight hues at times. While If I Had a Heart is perhaps the most famous example, I think you can point to these vibes in other works involving Dresijer as well.
So it makes sense that in 2010, the RA Podcast featured a Halloween-themed mix by Fever Ray. You can find the full set-list right here, but it involves perfectly atmospheric tracks from Neil Young, Zola Jesus, Burial Hex, Shackleton and more. I'll also say that Jad & David Fair's Nosferatu is a wonderfully weird tune. Now, don't dive in expecting any tracks from the Knife or Fever Ray themselves, but it's a wonderful collection of dark influences and provides an effective dose of somber autumn reflection.
You can dive into other episodes of the RA Podcast right here -- and you can also still find it on iTunes (though don't expect to find it on Spotify).
