In which we discuss the 1985 TV Ewok movie...
I'm excited for this one. When I was a kid, the TV Ewok movies comprised 40 percent of the Star Wars cinematic universe. There were just five films, and Ewoks: Battle for Endor was one of them. Today, you'll be hard pressed to find this one outside of used DVDs and Russian YouTube, but it's a wonderfully watchable and weird movie.
It's written and directed by the Wheat brothers, who would go on to bring us Pitch Black. It stars Wilford Brimley as a rugged, shipwrecked action grandpa and Siân Phillips as what we might now think of as a fallen Night Sister -- along with a warband of what are essentially space orks.
So it's a fun one -- and probably the only Star Wars film we can get away with for Weirdhouse, unless we come back around and do Caravan of Courage next year.
You can stream the episode right here, or find it in the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast stream wherever you get your digital audio. NOT AVAILABLE ON HOLONET.
Looking ahead to next week on Weirdhouse Cinema, we're going to discuss the 1993 cyber-panic film Ghost in the Machine (not the Shell).
