Bathe your senses in Mario Bava's 1963 horror anthology film...
Whew, this post is a little late, but last week's Weirdhouse Cinema episode centered around Mario Bava's 1963 horror anthology film Black Sabbath. In addition to being the namesake of the legendary band, it's a terrific trio of horror tales. While the Telephone segment is a little more subdued, The Wurdulak (starring Boris Karloff) and The Drop of Water really deliver the goods.

Again, Bava's work is a meticulous study in light and color, generating a phantasmagorical experience. In the episode, I compare one of the shots to a later shot in Event Horizon. Here's the comparison:
Maybe I'm reading too much into it it, but I felt a certain synergy between these two shots.
