1950s Scotland is in for it with this alien visitation...
In 1953's Devil Girl From Mars, a literal war between the sexes (with super-weapons) on the red planet brings about a reproductive crisis. Thus, as with Ship of Monsters, this movie concerns a female emissary from another world arriving on Earth to retrieve male breeding stock. But while Ship of Monsters played this concept up for comedy, Devil Girl From Mars takes a serious approach -- but with high fashion.
Patricia Laffan's costume, as we discuss, is the work of Ronald Cobb, a theater costume designer who worked in cabaret at the time. Some of the designs we referenced can be found here and here.
