Trumpy has come to earth to make friends. Will Earth accept?
This week on Weirdhouse Cinema, we discuss Juan Piquer Simón's 1983 film Los Nuevos Extraterrestres, also known as Pod People and L'éclosion des Monstres, which is French for The Hatching of Monsters! MST3K fans know this film only too well, as it was the subject of a particularly great season 4 episode, but the film provides plenty of unintended laughs and some genuine moments of fear and wonder all on its own.
Sadly, the existing footage for this film seems to be a bit grubby and not particularly clearer than what we saw on MST back the day. Though, as we discuss, the movie's score by Libra Pastor DID see release on vinyl back in 1983 and I can only imagine its a special possession for just the right sort of film fan. I do rather enjoy its mix of spacey and whimsical synth.
