It turns out that invisible, mental vampires are squirming stop-motion brains!
On today's episode of Weirdhouse Cinema, we class the joint up with I think is only our second Criterion Collection film! It's 1958's Fiend Without a Face, an extremely enjoyable horror yarn of the day that climaxes in a 13-minutes special effects-laden gore fest of stop-motion brain monsters. Everything preceding the monster reveal is actually pretty solid too, but the effects are pretty ahead of their time in many respects.
Fiend Without a Face is also our second dedicated BRAIN movie, following our episode on 1988's The Brain. Check that one out if you haven't. Anyway, on to today's content:
Now, I mention in the episode that I first saw footage from this film in the brains! segment of 1982's It Came From Hollywood! I watched that as a kid and it was one of my main introductions to the worlds of classic horror and sci-fi cinema. There's some really great stuff in there. It's hard to track down due to rights issues, but here's the brains! segment, hosted by the great Dan Aykroyd at his most manic:
