We celebrate Friday the 13th by discussing Jason Voorhees' 1989 trip to NYC...
In celebration of 2022's only Friday the 13th, we decided to navigate Weirdhouse Cinema into the terrifying waters of 1989's Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. As we discuss in the episode, yes, these were very popular and mainstream horror films, but they're also quite weird and goofy in their own right, especially by this point in the Franchise. If you don't know the series all that well, fear not! Joe will catch you up on the entire story up till this film and we also chat a bit about Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood.
Now, we don't talk a lot about related media, but I DO want to highlight Harry Manfredini's delightfully funky theme from 1982's Friday the 13th Part III. This one was actually a disco hit at the time!
We hope you enjoyed or tolerated this extra-long episode of Weirdhouse Cinema. Reminder that we DO have some WHC merch in the STBYM store -- and don't forget to check out our Letterboxd page. You can see all the movies we've covered visualized there. And sometimes I go ahead and put the next week's movie on there before it's announced anywhere else.
