I hope you like triple-distilled horror as powerful as a vat of boiling acid...
This week on Weirdhouse Cinema, we dive into a film that's so weird in so many ways -- just about as weird as you can get with a genre film without crossing over into some purer mode of experimental, art or psychedelic cinematic expression.
It's 1970's Scream and Scream Again, a delightful sci-fi conspiracy film that will keep you guessing until the very end, and then you'll reflect back on it and guess some more. It's one of those films where the plot holes are more features than defects, as they allow further room for contemplation.
The poster here is great, but don't let it fool you. While body-dissolving acid does play a part in the plot, the film is less horror-centric than it implies. Also, while Price, Lee and Cushing all have solid roles, they're not really our main characters -- as much as a movie like this has recognizable main characters anyway.
So it's weird gem of a film and a well-deserving entry in the Weirdhouse Cinema catalog of films. I'm going to embed the episode and the trailer as usual, but I will advise you that the trailer contains spoilers and should be avoided if you want to maximize your experience of the weird on this one.
